Location of implementation: Međimurje County (orig. Međimurska županija, Republic of Croatia) and Prekmurje Region (orig. Prekmurje, Republic of Slovenia)

Project aims: The overall aims of the project are to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust, foster European citizenship, democracy and respect for human rights, and to reflect on European cultural diversity and common values. Accordingly, the specific aims of the project are to:

  1. Reflect and educate on the consequences of World War II and antisemitism, and to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust in Croatia and Slovenia.
  2. Develop structured cooperation between project partners in order to improve citizens’ awareness about the remembrance of the Holocaust, and the common history and values of the EU.
  3. Promote mutual understanding and tolerance, and support the intercultural and inter-generational dialogue.

Project activities: The project partners will organise various activities within the framework of implementation of the project. Accordingly, the focus will be on remembrance of the Holocaust, raising public awareness, and providing education about the consequences of antisemitism in order to strengthen social solidarity and open a dialogue on current social inequality and intolerance. The project activities will include the organisation of conferences, workshops, seminars, lectures, exhibitions and concerts, while the Holocaust victims will be honoured by the installation of Stolpersteine memorials and solemn commemorations.
