On Thursday, 6 June 2024, at 6:00 p.m., we kindly invite you to the Synagogue Maribor (Židovska ulica 4) to the opening of the exhibition
Women. Stories of women who influenced the world
With this exhibition, the Museum of Jewish Culture from Bratislava, which operates under the auspices of the Slovak National Museum, is once again presented in Maribor. The exhibition tells about inspiring women of Jewish origin who are connected to today’s Slovakian territory – either they were born here, lived here or were of Slovak origin – and whose work also reached the international arena. The selection of personalities presented at the exhibition was quite a challenge, and the authors of the exhibition focused on representatives from various fields of science and art and from the business world. Their “list” is far from exhaustive, but they have tried to choose stories that you will find appealing and attracting.
The keynote speaker at the opening will be His exc. dr. Peter Zeleňák, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Ljubljana. The exhibition will be presented by dr. Michal Vaněk, director of the Museum of Jewish Culture from Bratislava, and Boris Hajdinjak, director of Synagogue Maribor, will also address the visitors.
Accordionist Andrej Kos will perform in the cultural program.
The exhibition will be on display in the Maribor Synagogue until 17 January 2025.
You are welcome!
