On 26th of April, 72 years have passed since the beginning of mass deportations of the Jews from Prekmurje region, where at that time the most numerous Jewish communities in Slovenia had lived. Only a few Slovenian Jews survived the Holocaust.
With desire to commemorate the memory on the Holocaust victims in Slovenia, the pupils of Janko Glazer primary school from Ruše prepared an exhibition of art works and posters on the topic of Holocaust remembrance and learning. Their mentors were Suzana Špindler, Melita Kladnik in Ljiljana Mićović Struger.
The exhibition that was organized in cooperation with Janko Glazer primary school within the project Stone Tears will be on display in the Center of Jewish Cultural Heritage Synagogue Maribor until 6 May 2016.
The Stone Tears project is supported by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance – IHRA and the Municipality of Maribor. In 2016, the project was supported also by Elektro Maribor.
