Several Maribor public institutions – the Maribor Public Library, Center of Jewish Cultural Heritage Synagogue Maribor, University of Maribor Library and Maribor Research Station of the Scientific Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts – will mark the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution with various events. The programme will officially start on the anniversary day, ie. Tuesday, 7 November 2017, with a scientific meeting. The meeting will be held at the University of Maribor Library from 9 a.m. until 2.30 p.m. (http://www.ukm.um.si/novice/oktobrska-revolucija-1917-2017-znanstveno-sre-anje). Next to the meeting, a special traveling exhibition presenting the Slovenian views on the October Revolution and civil war in Russia will be opened as well.
Within the programme, we highlight also a lecture “The greatest Jew after Christ.” Lev Trotsky and the Russian Revolution by Boris Hajdinjak. The lecture will be held at the Maribor Synagogue on Thursday, 16 November 2017, at 6 p.m.
