Jews in Slovenia in the Middle Ages, presentation of English translation of the monograph and a discussion with the author Dr Klemen Jelinčič Boeta. The discussion will be moderated by Dr Samo Skralovnik.

This year, ZRC SAZU Publishing House published an English translation of the updated and expanded monograph Judje na Slovenskem v srednjem veku (Slovenska matica, 2009) – Jews in Slovenia in the Middle Ages by Dr Klemen Jelinčič Boeta. In this monograph, the author outlined the medieval Jewish history of Carinthia, Styria, Carniola, Gorizia, Trieste, and the Slovenian part of Venetian Istria. The account begins with antiquity, including a discussion on Aquileia, and ends with the expulsion of the Jews from Carinthia and Styria in 1496 and from Carniola in 1515. This English-language book, which provides a detailed examination of all available sources and the literature on them to date, is indispensable for anyone seeking to understand the medieval Jewish history of the Southeastern Alps, Inner Austria, and Slovenia. The author of the book will be interviewed by Dr Samo Skralovnik, an associate professor in the Department of Biblical and Jewish Studies at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Ljubljana.
