In 2018, the Maribor Unit of the Faculty of Theology of the University of Ljubljana celebrated its 50th anniversary. Within the scope of the celebration activities, Dr Samo Skralovnik in cooperation with the Synagogue Maribor prepared the exhibition “From the Desert to the Table” presenting a special collection of biblical archaeological artefacts kept by the Theological Library Maribor.
This exhibition will be from 4 September until the end of October 2026 displayed in Negova Castle as part of the EDJC 2026.
The collection of artefacts from the Holy Land originates from the area of today’s Israel, Palestine, and Egypt, and represents a unique collection in Slovenia. Some museums in Slovenia hold individual artefacts from the Middle East as well, however, this collection is the only one devoted to biblical archaeology. The documentary exhibition thus presents interesting artefacts, primarily pottery and objects related to everyday life.
