The Synagogue Maribor has been participating in the European Heritage Days project for many years. This project, which is a joint programme of the European Union and the Council of Europe, is in Slovenia coordinated by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia. The shared theme for the European Heritage Days 2026, is “Heritage at Risk: Addressing Destruction and Illicit Trafficking of Cultural Property.” Corespondingly, the organisers of the European Heritage Days will take a closer look at the challenges facing cultural heritage in the modern world.
During the implementation of the European Heritage Days 2026, the Synagogue Maribor will organise open doors days inviting all its visitors to visit the former Jewish synagogue of Maribor and inform themselves about its history. At the same time, visitors will have the opportunity to see a special thematic exhibition on the Jewish history of Maribor.
The entry to the Synagogue Maribor will be during the open doors days free of charge. The Synagogue will be in this period open according to its usual opening times.
European Heritage Days in Slovenia
The open doors of the Synagogue Maribor will be also organised as part of the EDJC 2026 in Slovenia.
