– 14. 01. 2026

You are cordially invited to the lecture “Boris Pahor as a Prisoner of Nazi Concentration Campsby Boris Hajdinjak, historian, geographer and director of the Synagogue Maribor.

The lecture will be held on Wednesday, 14 January 2026, at 6 pm in the exhibition space of Ivan Potrč Library in Ptuj (Prešernova ulica 3335).

The National Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia recently published an extensive collection of papers “Slovenski taboriščniki v sistemu nacističnih koncentracijskih taborišč” (Slovenian Prisoners in the Nazi Concentration Camp System) which, through the diversity of included personal stories, reveals the extent of the involvement in the Nazi system. One of the articles presented in the collection is dedicated to Boris Pahor (1913, Trieste – 2022, Contovello/Trieste), who was an important witness of Nazi and Fascist crimes during World War II. The author of the article was Boris Hajdinjak, who wrote this article on the grounds of Pahor’s literary works, as well as on biographical works about him written by other authors, historical sources and literature about concentration camps.

The lecture is being organised as part of the Shoah – Let Us Remember 2026 programme.
