Auschwitz Album: Depiction of the Fate of Prekmurje Jews

Lecture

8. February 2023, at 16:00 in the Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia (Celovška cesta 23, Ljubljana)

Invitation to Boris Hajdinjak‘s lecture “Auschwitz Album: Depiction of the Fate of Prekmurje Jews” on 8th of February 2023, at 4 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary History of Slovenia in Ljubljana.

One of the most poignant testimonies about the Holocaust are the approximately 200 photographs of the Auschwitz Album. These photographs are the most vivid depiction of the process of mass killing in Auschwitz, other than the killing itself. They were created in May and June 1944, i.e. during the Ungarnaktion, the largest individual mass murder in Auschwitz. This is also the time when the majority of Prekmurje Jews were brought to Auschwitz. Therefore, these photos also depict their fate.

The lecture is part of the European Never Forget project and coincides with an temporary exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary History in Slovenia (Celovška cesta 23, Ljubljana). The lecture is co-financed by the European Union. The views and opinions expressed belong exclusively to the organizer and do not reflect those of the European Union or the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), therefore the European Union and the client do not assume responsibility for their content.
