Marpurgi: Between History and Literary Freedom
This year, the Beletrina publishing house published the fourth reprint of the novel Marpurgi by the writer Zlata Vokač Medic. Based on the novel, the opera Marpurgi (composer Nina Šenk and librettist and director Igor Pison) was created in Slovenian National Theatre Maribor.
The exhibition Marpurgi: Between History and Literary Freedom, written by Boris Hajdinjak from the Synagogue Maribor and Klemen Brvar from the Maribor Library, also talks about the Marpurgs. In the exhibition you can learn all about the writer and her novel, as well as much about Maribor in the 14th and 15th centuries.
The opening of the exhibition and the premiere of the long-awaited domestic contemporary opera Marpurgi took place on 2nd October 2020 at Slovenian National Theatre Maribor. The exhibition was on view until 15th October 2020, when we moved it to the premises of the Municipality of Maribor, where it will be on display for a month.
You are cordially invited to visit the exhibition.
