Sinagoga Maribor is hosting a documentary exhibition Sobibor.
On 14 October 1946 more than 400 prisoners, led by Jewish Alexander Pečerski, started a mutiny in the destruction camp Sobibor. After the mass escape most of the prisoners were caught and killed, only around 50 survived. Nonetheless, this was the most successful prison break from a death camp in World war 2.
The exhibition tells you all we know about the camp Sobibor, about the prison break, and about Alexander Pečerski. The exhibition also mentions the Russian war movie Sobibor (directed by Konstantin Habenski, 2018).
The exhibition will be on display at Sinagoga Maribor from 17th January until 13th March 2019.
